Coach Guest On Texas Football Today

SAN ANTONIO – The annual THSCA Coaching School and Convention was held in San Antonio from July 21-24. New Mojo football head coach Jeff Ellison was in attendance. Ellison Promoted To Lead Panthers

ODESSA, TX – The Ector County ISD wasted no time in promoting Jeff Ellison to interim head football coach for the 2018 season. Ellison has been the assistant head coach and offensive line coach the past season. He, along with offensive coordinator Thad Fortune and defensive coordinator Vance Washington, was one of three candidates interviewed for the spot. Matt Jones: Sic ‘Em Baylor Bears

ODESSA — Permian senior Matt Jones has verbally committed to Baylor University and plans to continue his football career in Waco.  The 6’3″, 230 pound linebacker gave his verbal pledge to Baylor on June 22.

Team Black Late Surge In Spring Game

ODESSA — A fourth quarter surge by Team Black earned them a 26-21 victory over Team White in the annual Black-White Spring Game on Thursday evening at Ratliff Stadium. Easton Hernandez threw two touchdowns and ran for another to close out three weeks of drills and workouts.

Permian 1988 Football Schedule

Permian won 12 games, while suffering three losses, in the 1988 season.  The Panthers lost to Marshall 13-12 in a non-district game.  A 22-21 district loss to Midland Lee resulted in a coin flip to decide post-season advancement.  Mojo’s state title run was cut one game short after a 14-9 playoff loss to Dallas Carter. Odessa Permian 1988 Roster

The 1988 Permian Panthers finished with a 5-1 record (12-3 overall) and were District Champions.  Mojo made it to the State Semifinals, where the playoff run would come to an end with a 14-9 loss to Dallas Carter at Royal Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas.  The Cowboys were stripped of the State title after it came to light that academically ineligible players were used. Second Verse Same As First

Irving, TX — For the second straight year, Plano stood in the way of Permian playing for the Class 4A State Championship.  In 1977, the Wildcats knocked the Panthers out of the playoffs in the Semifinal Round, 3-0.  The difference of a field goal again halted a Mojo State Final appearance in the 6-3 loss at Texas Stadium on Saturday.
