Panthers Too Legit, Win State Crown
Irving, TX — After falling behind 14-7 to San Antonio Marshall, Permian racked up 20 unanswered second half points to claim a 27-14 victory on Saturday afternoon. The 1991 Class 5A State Championship win in Texas Stadium marks the sixth state crown for the Panthers.
District Bell Burns Angry Orange
San Angelo, TX — Four quarters of head-to-head action from the district’s best resulted in a 21-15 slugfest favoring Permian over San Angelo Central. The Panthers are now guaranteed at least a share of the 4-5A title with tonight’s disposal of the Bobcats.
Mojo Claims State, National Title
Irving, TX — With a kickoff temperature in the low teens, Permian endured the cold to complete a perfect 16-0 season. With a 28-14 victory over Aldine, the Panthers secured the 1989 Class 5A State Champion title on Saturday afternoon in Texas Stadium. They have also been named National Champions by sports television giant ESPN.
Permian Hands Lee District Loss
Midland, TX — On a damp Thursday night, turnovers came by the bucketful. The District 4-5A battle between Permian and Midland Lee remained scoreless through one half of football. It was the Panthers that pulled out a 13-7 win at Memorial Stadium.
