Permian came into existence 60 years ago, as the third high school to Odessa. Located in the northern part of town, it was only a matter of time for the 250,000 square foot school to root into fertile soil. The beginning year saw Permian win three games, and in the second season of existence the Panther football program set the standard for winning with a record of 8-3-0. In just five years later, the Panthers won their first state championship in 1965. In 1966, the school district allowed the annexation of the Permian Field House, and the following year, the swimming pool was added. Football Playoff Run Ends In Abilene
Abilene, TX – In a game marred by penalties, the second round playoff jinx continued for the Panthers on Friday afternoon. The Southlake Carroll Dragons seemed to have all the magic they needed to spell a 38-7 decision over Permian in the Texas Class 6A playoff at Abilene Christian’s Anthony Field.
Panthers Advance With Win Over Franklin
Odessa, TX – Under the hazy playoff air, Permian played host to El Paso Franklin in the Texas Class 6A Division I Bi-District meeting at Ratliff Stadium. The Panthers would take a 23-7 halftime lead and roll to a 37-26 playoff win on Friday night.
Permian Rips San Angelo Central
San Angelo, TX – The Central Bobcats scored the game’s first 10 points. From there, Permian took over the Catfight on the Concho in a 58-38 District 2-6A securing victory at San Angelo Stadium on Friday night.
Mojo Casts Spell On Midland High
Odessa, TX – In the final home district game at Ratliff Stadium, the Black Cats cast their spell on Midland High in a 42-14 thumping on this Friday the 13th. The victory punches the Class 6A playoff ticket for the Panthers.
Mojo Declared Clear Winner Over OHS
Odessa, TX – In a game that was heavily dominated by Shy Stephens-Deary and the Panthers, the annual Crosstown Showdown was decided early in a 45-7 lopsided win over Odessa High at Ratliff Stadium on Friday night.
Area: Arlington Martin at Permian
After dominating wins over each of their opening round opponents, Permian and #10 Arlington Martin will square off in the Area Round of the Texas Class 6A Division I playoffs.
