Odessa, TX – The Panthers hosted Lubbock Cooper in the only scrimmage of the 2018 season on Friday evening at Ratliff Stadium. While the evening was cut short, Permian takes several positives from the outing.
Senior running back Ed Williams had a 5-yard touchdown run and junior running back Mark Samaniego busted loose on a 65-yarder for another score. Justin Hammond scored on a 17-yd pass from Christian Rodriguez to complete the Mojo scoring. The Panthers finished with over 400 total yards and 18 first downs. Quarterback Peyton Powell had five carries for 75 yards rushing.
Lubbock Cooper was held out of the endzone and finished with 115 total yards. The Permian defense also recorded four sacks and an interception. Friday night’s scrimmage came to an early end when lightning strikes brought the live quarter to a halt.
The season home opener for the Panthers is next week, when DeSoto comes to town on August 31.
