While the Mojo defense was forcing five turnovers, Rodney Hall was throwing five touchdown passes to four different receivers. Deonte Bass hauled in two TDs, while Jadyn Pruitt, JaQuan Richardson, and Tabarie Jones each had a touchdown catch. The Permian offense put together a 429 yard offensive assault in the victory.
The Black Cats opened the game with a 20-point first quarter, but the visiting Panthers narrowed the deficit in the second frame to trail 20-13 at the intermission break.
Riding the second quarter surge, Waco Midway came out and knotted the contest early in the third stanza. Permian regained its composure and answered with pair of touchdowns to re-establish a 14-point advantage.
Mojo added another score in the final 12 minutes to claim the 41-20 season home opening victory. Permian will be back on the road next Friday as the Panthers visit Amarillo Tascosa in a non-district clash. In a test of Rebels this evening, Tascosa disposed of Midland Legacy, 48-27.
