Permian came into existence 60 years ago, as the third high school to Odessa. Located in the northern part of town, it was only a matter of time for the 250,000 square foot school to root into fertile soil. The beginning year saw Permian win three games, and in the second season of existence the Panther football program set the standard for winning with a record of 8-3-0. In just five years later, the Panthers won their first state championship in 1965. In 1966, the school district allowed the annexation of the Permian Field House, and the following year, the swimming pool was added. Homecoming Win Over Midland Lee
Odessa, TX – The annual district meeting between Permian and Midland Lee lived up to its usual clash of titans. After owning a 20-17 halftime edge, the Panthers ambushed the Rebels in the second half to claim a 55-44 victory at Ratliff Stadium on Homecoming night.
Permian Suffers Loss To Tascosa
Canyon, TX – In a game that was marred with penalties and turnovers, Permian fell prey to former district foe Amarillo Tascosa 40-18 at West Texas A&M’s Buffalo Stadium on Friday night.
Panthers Rip Jaguars In Road Win
Mesquite, TX – In a game that was scheduled at the last minute, it didn’t seem to bother Permian to make the trek across the state to play Mesquite Horn. Hanby Stadium hosted the non-district lopsided contest with the Panthers blasting the Jaguars 51-10.
