Odessa, TX – An extended weather delay wasn’t enough to disrupt the Mojo mission on Friday night as Permian sent Mesquite Poteet back to the Metroplex with a 49-14 lashing from Ratliff Stadium.
Permian Suffers Non-District Loss
Odessa, TX – Permian found itself in unfamiliar territory in Friday’s non-district game, not only trailing but getting shutout in the first half. Amarillo Tascosa handed the Panthers their first loss of the season in a 40-21 decision at Ratliff Stadium.
Mojo Family Remembers Coach
Odessa, TX – After a successful collegiate and semi-pro career in football, coach Jack Jacobson made a lasting impression on the Permian football and golf programs. At the age of 80, Coach Jack passed in Dallas on September 5.
Panthers Put On Offensive Show
Hewitt, TX – In a game that mimicked more a 7-on-7 show of offense than a typical evening under the Friday Night Lights, Permian outlasted Waco Midway 57-41 in a slobberknocker at Panther Stadium.
Surge Lifts Mojo Past Pebble Hills
Odessa, TX – In a game marred in turnovers, Permian would reel off 19 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to surge past El Paso Pebble Hills in a 26-15 season home opening win at Ratliff Stadium on Friday night.
Former Permian Players
Darren Allman
A 1987 graduate and former player, Darren Allman was a sophomore when the Panthers won the 1984 Class 5A State Championship. Allman was a junior when the team reached the state finals in 1985. He shares the school record for interceptions in a single game with four in 1986. A decade later, Allman would spend eight seasons coaching at Brownwood, one year at Temple, and one year at Highland Park. In February 2005, he was named as Permian’s 11th football coach. After reaching the third round of the playoffs in ’06, ’07, and ’08, Allman left Permian for Austin Westlake and then Colleyville Heritage. He accepted the Athletic Director position at Southlake Carroll in 2015, and has returned to coaching at Nacogdoches. Continue reading “Former Permian Players”
