ODESSA — Senior quarterback Peyton Powell has committed to Baylor University over competing offers from Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, TCU, and the Texas Longhorns to name a few. He has received over 20 offers nationally.
Powell was set to head to Austin before de-committing last week. The official three-day early signing period starts today, and the national signing day is February 6.
What Powell Has To Offer:
He ran a verified 4.4 40-yard dash at the regional in Dallas. He also posted a 4.25 shuttle and a 37.6″ vertical. With a 6’2″ 185 pound frame, he possesses the skills to be competitive at quarterback in the right system. Powell has shown an ability to step through would-be tacklers.
The dual-threat Mojo quarterback has proven his talent as a signal caller, and hopes to continue the same role in the Baylor green and gold.
Excerpt from the Recruiting Notebook:
Powell falls into the typical deal where he’s the best athlete on the team and so he plays QB so he touches the ball every play. Currently he’s a solid option QB. With all that athleticism and that kind of frame he could be a surefire NFL CB if he takes well to defense or he could stay with offense and feast as a ultra-twitchy wideout.
