LUBBOCK — It was a tell of two halves. Permian jumped out to a 28-10 halftime lead over Frenship at Peoples Bank Stadium on Friday night. The Tigers scored 30 unanswered points in the second half to claim a 40-28 district opening win over the Panthers. The loss is the first of the season for Permian in five outings. Unfortunately, it means the Panthers are 0-1 in District 2-6A.
EL PASO — After jumping out to a 41-0 halftime lead, Permian never looked back in the 61-0 lopsided shutout of the El Paso Franklin Cougars on Friday night at Franklin Stadium. Mojo quarterback Steve Steen made his presence known, scoring three rushing touchdowns and throwing three TD passes in the first half alone.
AUSTIN — Despite three first half turnovers, Permian rallied in the second half to defeat Austin Vandegrift 21-20 on Friday night at Monroe Memorial Stadium. Kobe Robinson scored two of the three Mojo touchdowns to lift the Panthers past the Vipers in a non-district clash to start the season.
