Odessa Permian 1988 Roster
The 1988 Permian Panthers finished with a 5-1 record (12-3 overall) and were District Champions. Mojo made it to the State Semifinals, where the playoff run would come to an end with a 14-9 loss to Dallas Carter at Royal Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas. Permian Hands Lee District Loss
Midland, TX — On a damp Thursday night, turnovers came by the bucketful. The District 4-5A battle between Permian and Midland Lee remained scoreless through one half of football. It was the Panthers that pulled out a 13-7 win at Memorial Stadium.
Permian, French Share Texas 5A Title
Irving, TX — Permian and Beaumont French met in Texas Stadium to lay claim to the 1984 State Champion crown. The Panthers (15-0) entered the contest as the top-ranked team in Texas, while many wondered if the Buffaloes would even be able to stay in the game. No one anticipated the game would end in a bittersweet 21-21 tie.
Permian Takes State In Second Half
Irving, TX — Trailing 19-7 at the half, Permian shut down Port Arthur Jefferson’s high-powered offense to claim a 28-19 decision in the 1980 Class 5A State Championship at Texas Stadium. Permian slapped 21 unanswered point on the scoreboard in the second half.
