ODESSA — The annual match-up between Permian and Odessa High was dominated by the Panthers before a near capacity crowd at Ratliff Stadium.  Mojo took a 21-0 halftime lead and extended that to 49-0 to dispose of the Bronchos in Friday night's District 2-6A crosstown showdown.

After an exchange of punts that capped off scoreless sustained drives by both teams, the Panthers were back on the prowl.  Taking over on their own 44-yard line, Mojo went to work.  On a drive that consisted of six rushing plays, Steen found paydirt on a 10-yard keeper to make it a 21-0 Permian lead to close out the first half.
Odessa High received the opening kickoff to start the second half and was able to pick up a couple of first downs before the Mojo defense put the clamps on to force a punt. Taking over on their own 4-yard line, the Panthers mounted a 13-play scoring drive that was capped off with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Steen to Robinson. The Bronchos were again forced to punt on the next set of downs. Hunter Hawkins fielded the punt and returned it down to the OHS 35. Two plays later, Steen broke free and crossed the goal line on a 34-yard scamper to put the Panthers up 35-0. Mojo would retain that margin as the third quarter ended.
Odessa High opened the fourth quarter throwing three incomplete passes and punting to the Mojo 21. On the fifth play of the ensuing drive, Steen delivered the dagger on a 50-yard TD run to close out the offensive attack and give the Panthers a comfortable 42 point lead. It was now the defense's turn to put the nail in the coffin. After pinning the Bronchos deep at their own 15 on the following kickoff, Tyson Banks collected a "pick-six" when he stepped in front of the intended receiver and returning the intercepted pass 20 yards for the final score of the game. Mojo handed out a thorough lashing to the little red ponies from across town.  Williams finished with 152 rushing yards, while Steen added another 138.  Robinson had 67 receiving yards, and Hammond had 41.
Permian will host the Midland Lee Rebels next Friday, November 4 at Ratliff Stadium to close out the season.  Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.  Other district action will include San Angelo Central visiting Amarillo Tascosa at Dick Bivins Stadium.  Odessa High will close out its season against Midland High at Grande Communnications Stadium.  The Frenship Tigers will be idle this coming week.
