Well we started off getting our lungs kicked in by the Carlsbad Cavemen.  They were a well disciplined, fundamentally sound baseball team.  I expect them to end up playing deep into the New Mexico playoffs.  Aggressive at the plate, good pitching, and very few errors in their ball handling.

Now, after about three innings of near zero production hitting and close to a dozen simple misplayed balls in the field, the other Panther team surfaced out of nowhere.  Bats were swinging and the fielding came back to the level they were playing at last week.  The kids are going to have to start stepping into the batter's box with more confidence.  Maybe Jake Armstrong's homerun is a sign that that's coming.

And now the scrimmages are done.  Next Thursday through Saturday Permian will enter its first of three tournaments before the district games begin.  It's a long trip to El Paso, which should test the stamina of the team.
